Eurostars is a joint program between EUREKA (38 member countries) and the European Commission that co-funds international R&D projects led by SMEs. Each project must involve at least two independent entities from different EUREKA countries, with an SME leading. National agencies fund their own country’s participants — meaning the actual grant is disbursed domestically, not centrally. Projects must have a clear commercial outcome within 2 years of completion. Eurostars has two annual cut-off dates and a fast evaluation process (~6 months from submission to funding decision).
